Bay Leaf Tea
Introducing the health benefits of the humble bay leaf, a great all round herb. Bay has been cultivated from ancient times; its leaves constituted the wreaths of laurel that crowned victorious athletes in ancient Greece.
This culinary herb is also known for its age-old medicinal properties and various health benefits. Bay leaf tea is a good source of vitamin A, vitamin B6, and vitamin C.
Frustratingly I’ve been floored by a nasty sinus infection this last week and as many of you know I avoid any pharma drugs, so always look to support my system in a natural way. I’m fortunate to have a huge bay leaf tree in my garden, so it’s always to hand and simple to make. The pressure headaches were quite unbearable so all my protocols have been tried and tested to the max!
Bay leaves have many benefits to health as listed below, a compound called eugenol (also found in cloves) is effective in reducing inflammation and sinus congestion. I can definitely feel an easing of pressure in the sinuses after drinking this soothing herbal tea. I added some locally sourced @glenheatherhoney as bay can often be a little bitter to taste.

Making bay leaf tea is easy! Simply add a few bay leaves to a teapot or cup of hot water and let them steep for 5-10 minutes.
You can also add other ingredients such as honey or lemon to taste. If you’re using fresh bay leaves, you’ll need to use 2-3 times as many as you would dried leaves.
You can also bruise the leaves slightly before adding them to the water to help release their flavour. Once the tea has finished steeping, strain it and enjoy!
