Each week in Qi Gong class I introduce a pressure point or two, guiding people to take more control of their health and wellbeing at home. Tonight we are looking ay Kidney 1 (KI1)
What is the point?
Kidney 1’s strong downward moving action invites a more settled mind. It is our innermost spring which allows us to tap into our true flow. This point invigorates the spirit and renews vitality. If you are feeling drained this point will restore hope and optimism.
You can stimulate this point by gently massaging it directly with your finger for 30 seconds or until you are inspired to take a deep breath. Or you can do this seated (see image) cross your leg then grab hold of your ankle and slap / tap with the back of your hand. Repeat this 100 times for full effect.
By finding this source within, we can find our own wisdom and creativity that can refresh our vision so life can flow with power, balance, purity and without fear. In this vibrant spring water we can be bathed in rejuvenating, refreshing and cleansing pure waters ― from “Characters of Wisdom – Taoist Tales of the Acupuncture Points”
Note: Usage of this point shouldn’t replace an acupressure or acupuncture treatment but act more as a way of supporting your system on an ongoing basis, empowering you to really get to know your body, to feel how different points work on YOUR body. Prevention and longevity lie at the core of Qi Gong and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
